Boise State's Nick Duncan has issued an apology for making an obscene gesture at Utah State fans after Wednesday night's game in Logan.

Duncan will not be punished or suspended, according to Boise State athletic director Curt Apsey and the Mountain West Conference.

Following the Broncos' 83-80 victory at the Spectrum, a Logan Herald Journal photographer caught Duncan flashing a hand gesture in the direction of the Aggie student section as he walked off the court. The photo was quickly circulated on social media.

On Thursday, Duncan apologized via a statement issued by the school, although Utah State or its fans were not specifically mentioned.

It read: "I apologize for my actions at the end of last night's game. I pride myself on being above all of the noise I hear when we go on the road, but last night I let it get the best of me. I need to be better than that.

"I apologize to my teammates and coaches for taking any attention away from what we accomplished on the court and to our young fans for setting a poor example of sportsmanship. I look forward to my remaining opportunities to represent Boise State University and make Bronco Nation proud."

Aspey also released a statement:

"Boise State does not condone this type of behavior from anyone within our program. Nick Duncan has a long track record as one of the finest citizens in our department and he is deeply apologetic about his actions. … He understands the level of sportsmanship we expect from our student-athletes and I have no doubt he will meet that expectation moving forward. I have spoken with the Mountain West office about this incident and based upon our response the matter is considered closed."

Duncan is senior from Sydney Australia.

In the Broncos' win over the Aggies, he scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds, including one after a missed Boise State free throw with 2.9 seconds remaining that clinched the Broncos' victory.

In the opening two minutes of the game, Duncan blocked a shot by Utah State's Alexis Dargenton and was called for a technical foul — apparently for taunting — by referee Michael Greenstein.
