Logan • Two high school football players, including the son of former NFL star Ray Lewis, committed to Utah State on Tuesday night.

Rayshad Lewis, a cornerback-wide receiver from Bishop Moore Catholic High in Orlando, Fla., and David Woodward, a projected linebacker from Olympia, Wash., announced their intention to play for the Aggies on Twitter.

Woodward wrote: "Excited to announce I've committed to Utah State!!! Go Aggies!"

Lewis wrote: "Just officially committed to Utah State! AggieUp."

According to a story in the Orlando Sentinel, Lewis' visit to Utah State over the weekend was a key to his decision.

"It went great," Lewis told the newspaper. "I was surprised that the area was that beautiful and the facilities were that nice because you would never think that something in a small town like Logan, Utah, would be that impressive. The facilities were great and the fans really love the Aggies."

Lewis, who stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 165 pounds, picked Utah State over Appalachian State, Ball State, Florida Atlantic, Idaho, Old Dominion, Toledo and UMass, according to the Sentinel.

Utah State was the first school to offer Lewis last spring and the perseverance of assistant coach and primary recruiter Jovon Boaknight paid off.

"They really saw something in me a long time ago," Lewis said.
