Colorado Springs • Utah State senior guard Chris Smith is the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Smith averaged 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists while leading the Aggies to consecutive wins over Texas-Rio Grande Valley, Idaho State and North Dakota State in last week's Global Sports Hoops Showcase presented by Gossner Foods at the Spectrum.
Smith was named the round-robin tournament's MVP. He had a season-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, plus a career-high six assists against Idaho State.
Utah State opens Mountain West Conference play on Wednesday night at San Jose State.
