Logan • The Utah State women's basketball team returns to action Friday night at the Spectrum against Haskell Indian Nations University.

Tipoff is at 7 p.m.

Haskell Indian Nations is an NAIA Division II school located in Lawrence, Kansas. Haskell is the only four-year athletic program in the United States where all student-athletes represent diverse American Indian and Alaska Native nations. The Haskell Athletics programs were a part of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference until it was dissolved after the 2014-15 season. The women's basketball team now plays independently.

Haskell is 8-2 this season, including a 5-1 record on the road. It comes off a 72-64 win over Ottawa University.

Haskell is coached by Shane Flanagan, who has experience against Mountain West Conference schools. The son of former New Mexico coach Don Flanagan, he is a former Lobo assistant who played basketball at Boise State from 1995-98.

Flanagan is a member of the Taos Pueblo tribe and is a native of Albuquerque. His mother was the 1969 Miss Indian America and spoke in front of Congress on behalf of Native American rights.

Utah State is 2-3 so far this season. The Aggies come off a 74-60 loss at Northern Colorado. Sophomore guard Funda Nakkasoglu leads USU in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game. Senior forward Tijana Djukic leads the team in rebounding (8.4).
