Utah State women's basketball coach Jerry Finkbeiner has signed for new players.

The group includes guard-forward Hailey Bassett from Layton, guard Jessie Geer from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyo., forward Dee Moore from Allen (Tex.) High School and forward Shannon Dufficy from Victoria, Australia.

"We couldn't be more excited about our 2016 recruiting class," Finkbeiner said. "The group brings a great mixture of size, athleticism and skill. Even more importantly, these young ladies … are all very good students with high character. I'm excited to have [them] join our program."

Bassett averaged 14.2 points and 9.3 rebounds as a junior at Layton High School. The Lancers finished 15-6 and won the region championship for the second straight year.

"Our program is committed to signing the best talent in the state of Utah," Finkbeiner said. "We have done it again with Hailey. She is a good athlete with the ability to play forward or guard. She is a scorer with a very high ceiling."

Geer was named Wyoming's co-player of the year as a junior, when she averaged 19.5 points and 3.8 assists. The Camels won the state championship. Off the basketball court, Geer is also a three-time letter-winner in track and field.

"Jessie is a combo guard who can score," Finkbeiner said. "She is a premiere player in the state of Wyoming."

As a junior, Moore averaged 11.2 points and 6.8 rebounds last season. She originally committed to Texas Tech before deciding to sign with the Aggies.

"Dee is a versatile forward with good size and strength," Finkbeiner said. "Texas is known for its exceptional post players and Dee is certainly one of them. When she came on her visit, we were immediately confident she would be a great fit in our program."

Dufficy plays for Diamond Valley at the club level. She recently played on an all-star team which won the Under-20 national championship. She was named the team's MVP.

"Shannon is a highly-skilled forward," Finkbeiner said. "She is a very experienced player, even at a young age. She has a very long and successful basketball resume. She is an accomplished rebounder and scorer in all levels of Australian basketball."

Utah State opens its regular season Saturday against Sacramento State at 2 p.m. in the Spectrum.
