Utah State senior linebacker Torrey Green always seems to have a smile on his face. He is a terrific interview, too. Here are some of his thoughts from the Aggies' weekly press conference:

• On not being as visible as fellow linebackers Kyler Fackrell, a Butkus Award semifinalist, and Nick Vigil, the Aggies' leading tackler: "I'm all right with it. I've got to do what I can to help the team. We do have some good linebackers in Nick, Fackrell and LT [Filiaga]. They're great players, so as long as I'm doing my job and doing the dirty work, that's all that matters."

• On the source of his ever-present enthusiasm and positive energy: "It comes from my parents. My dad always told me that you have to do what you can, no matter what the situation is. You've got to do what you can because you don't control your destiny. I grew up in a Christian home and my dad says it all the time: that God knows what he's doing and to be positive all the time. I get that from my parents, especially my dad. That's the reason."

• On how much weight he has gained since coming out of high school: "I came in at 190 and gained 40 pounds. People don't know this, but I ate a lot of McDonald's to gain that weight. I'm 11 percent body fat, though, so thank goodness for [strength and conditioning coach] Dave Scholz getting me right and making sure I did everything right in the weight room and not slacking off. That was a big part of it — just eating and getting in the weight room and pumping that weight."
