Logan • Utah coach coach Tim Duryea says everyone will play Saturday night at the Spectrum, where the Aggies open the 2015-16 men's basketball season with an exhibition game against Panhandle (Okla.) State.

"The main thing will be to make sure we get everybody a decent amount of minutes so we can actually grade these guys against somebody else," Duryea said. "… We want to see how kids react to playing somebody else. I don't want to play seven, eight, nine guys. I want to play everybody that's eligible, if possible, so we can have something to look at on film and try to advance as a team. Everybody is going to get significant playing time, regardless of the score."

Utah State returns five starters from a year ago, when it finished 18-13 overall and 11-7 in the Mountain West Conference. Duryea believes the Aggies have added some quality depth, too, thanks to the improvement of 6-foot-9 sophomore forward Elston Jones, the return of 6-foot-8 forward Quinn Taylor from an LDS Church mission, the addition of junior college point guard Shane Rector and the presence of 6-foot-8 Tulsa transfer Lew Evans.

"We have some depth and those guys are all pushing each other, making each other better," Duryea said. "We have a lot more versatility than we had last year."

According to Duryea, Evans "has improved a lot. He's still young and he's still learning the finer points of the game. But Elston has come along."

Taylor "… has done a good job," the Aggie coach said. "Things just kind of turn out when he's on the floor. He's a great execution guy."

Asked about Evans, Duryea said, "Lew does a good job in a lot of different areas because he's aggressive and he's smart That leads to production."
