Utah State football coach Matt Wells picked up some nice recognition Tuesday night as he was named the Coach of the Year at the State of Sport Awards ceremony.

Winners were determined through an online voting process.

Wells led the Aggies to a 10-4 record in 2014 season and a 21-6 win over UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl, the third straight bowl win for the Aggies.

The Aggies finished in third place of the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a 6-2 record.

Wells' 67.9 winning percentage ranks second all-time in school history behind John Ralston (1959-62), who had a winning percentage of 73.3 percent.
