Utah football: Texas receiver Jaylen Dixon becomes second Utes commit from Lone Star HS

The urgency seems to be picking up in Utah recruiting.

The football team enjoyed its second commitment in as many days when Jaylen Dixon, http://247sports.com/Player/Jaylen-Dixon-89628";>a 3-star receiver from Frisco, Texas, announced his decision via Twitter.

"The process was stressful but also rewarding getting to fulfill the lifelong dream of playing college football," he wrote. "Therefore I will be committing to the University of Utah!!"

Dixon is in good company: He is the second Utah commit from Lone Star High, http://bit.ly/2aqwekI";>following the lead of teammate and quarterback Jason Shelley. He's also the third straight Utah commit from Texas (fifth total), his announcement coming the day after another Texas receiver, http://bit.ly/2dJjczi";>Tyquez Hampton, flipped to the Utes from Washington State.

Dixon is a distinct departure from Hampton, short but also quick and productive. He's racked up 561 yards on 48 receptions with 6 touchdowns, according to the Dallas Morning News. He also had offers from Syracuse and Iowa State. While Shelley visited for USC, Dixon came to visit for the Arizona game along with five other recruits. Utah now has three commitments from nine of their last official visitors. There are six members total in the 2017 class thus far.
