Vindication? Or perhaps condemnation? Pundits and dignitaries from within and without the sports landscape have weighed in on the cancellation of the BYU-Utah basketball game next season. Here's some of the best responses:

ESPN's Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser

The "Pardon the Interruption" duo was candid when discussing Larry Krystkowiak's decision, Wilbon calling him "a very balanced and reasonable person" and decreeing BYU as "the agitator recently" in this rivalry series. Kornheiser mentioned the angle that many Utah fans seem to support: That the Utes have outgrown a regular series with the Cougars as a member of the Pac-12 — but ultimately called both "good teams."

"I don't think Krystkowiak is doing this for a bad reason," Kornheiser said. "I think I'm OK with it."

ESPN's Kyle Bonagura, Brett McMurphy and Jay Bilas

ESPN Pac-12 blogger Bonagura simply tweeted that the BYU-Utah rivalry has devolved into "a circus." Bilas, one of the network's national college hoops analysts, was supportive of Krystkowiak's decision.

McMurphy tweeted out a conference realignment joke that "even Missouri/Kansas and Texas A&M/Texas can't believe Utah-BYU is cancelling hoops series."

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Eisenberg

Eisenberg tweeted out a series of tweets that the decision to suspend the series was "flat-out idiotic" and penned a column on Utah needlessly halting another iconic college hoops rivalry.

Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports' Seth Davis

Davis tweeted that Krystkowiak's decision was "a huge turnover" and that he hopes Utah's coach reconsiders.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox

Herbert took to Twitter to encourage sportsmanship from both teams and stated simply: "Play the game." Cox tweeted: "This is dumb. Seriously Utes, you're better than that."
