The end of July brings Utah's 2015 football media guide, and with it, a new depth chart to dissect and draw wrongheaded conclusions from.

Only there's not much to dissect.

The sole incoming player on the two-deep is junior college transfer running back Joe Williams, not surprisingly listed as backup to Devontae Booker after Troy McCormick's spring camp knee injury and Bubba Poole's move to slot receiver.

At quarterback, Travis Wilson's name is bolded as the No. 1, ahead of Kendal Thompson, though every indication is that we'll see as spirited a battle this fall as last fall.

Kyle Whittingham addresses it thusly in the season outlook: "Travis is coming off a very good spring and has the inside track as a three-year starter, but the final decision will be based on who performs best in fall camp."

The most noteworthy move is that of junior Brian Allen to starting cornerback, after the Utes parted ways recently with junior Dominique Hatfield.

Allen, who has been switched from wideout to safety to corner, made a handful of interceptions and near-interceptions this spring. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, he's also similar in stature to former Utes and current pros Sean Smith and Keith McGill.

Check out the new media guide here. The two-deep is on Page 31.

A couple things to note on the roster: Despite what the media guide says, Deniko Carter will not join the team this fall, after failing to qualify academically.

The roster also does not name new fall walk-ons, to include likely "push-forward" players Cody Barton, Britain Covey, Pasoni Tasini, Kendall Huey and Jordan Fogal.

Those five (and hopefully we're not forgetting another) are enrolled and are good bets to play this fall and count toward Utah's 2016 initial scholarships.
