There are certainly more interesting things on TV tonight that "The Bachelorette" — season finales of "Supergirl" and "Jane the Virgin"; a prime-time "Carpool Karoake" special; and an episode of "Better Call Saul" — but ABC's fake dating show is worth mention for one reason.

After many years of absolutely correct criticism that both "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" have been so non-diverse, the new season of "The Bachelorette" (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) centers Rachel Lindsay. And Lindsay, a former "Bachelor" contestant, is the first person of color to be at the center of either show.

It's nice to see the franchise has finally noticed that this is the 21st century.
