There's a "Daily Show" reunion of sorts tonight on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."

Colbert, a former "TDS" correspondent, will be joined by Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms and Rob Corddry. And … I can't wait to see it.

Oh, and that whole campaign to get Colbert fired because he's so mean to Donald Trump? It's a giant failure.

Last week Colbert's "Late Show" beat Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" in total viewers by the largest margin since it premiered. "Late Show" ratings were up 12 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the same week a year ago — an average of 3.06 million viewers to Fallon's average of 2.65 million.

And Colbert is also catching up to "Tonight" in younger demographics. He was only 99,000 viewers behind Fallon in viewers 18-49, and 26,000 behind in viewers in 18-34.

A year ago, those margins were 385,000 and 106,000.

• Also tonight, there's a good episode of "The Middle" (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) with a great ending — a "La La Land"-inspired musical number featuring Sue (Eden Shur) and Brad (Brock Ciarelli). It really is amazingly good.

• And on a local note, KUED premieres "Search & Rescue" (8 p.m., Ch. 7), which goes behind the scenes and shows us the first-responder volunteers who risk their own lives to save others.

They have to go through a rigorous training process and buy about $2,000 worth of gear before they're allowed to rescue anyone. And then there's the emotional toll when their rescue attempts are not successful.

It's fascinating and eye-opening.
