TV or not TV

This weekend on TV: Premieres, finales, RSL soccer and more — there’s a lot to see

There's a lot going on this weekend on TV:

• A couple of time-travel series premiere — ABC's "Time After Time" (Sunday, 8 p.m., Ch. 4) gets off to a pretty good start; Fox's "Making History" (Sunday, 7:30 p.m., Ch. 13) is awful. I've seen four episodes, and it's really surprisingly bad.

• The very good miniseries "When We Rise" comes to an end (Friday, 8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4), and the very good "Masterpiece" series "Victoria" wraps up its first season (Sunday, 8 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7). Excellent news — it has been renewed for a second season.

• The eight-part series "FEUD: Bette and Joan" begins on FX (Sunday, 11 p.m.) — and it's absolutely worth watching.

• An episode aired on Wednesday, but "Chicago Justice" makes its official debut on Sunday (8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5). It's "Law & Order" in Chicago.

• And Real Salt Lake opens the 2017 MLS season, hosting Toronto FC (Saturday, 2:30 p.m., KMYU).

And those are just a few highlights.

Friday on TV …

• Women's college basketball (3 p.m., BYUtv): BYU vs. San Diego at the WCC tournament.

• "Shark Tank" (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Products made from recycled billboards; lozenges that prevent overeating.

• "Grimm" (7 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): A man claims his friend was consumed by a tree-like figure.

• "The Vampire Diaries" (7 p.m., CW/Ch. 30): A wedding is planned so that Damon and Stefan can lure a threat out into the open.

• ECHL hockey (7 p.m., KMYU): Alaska Aces at Utah Grizzlies

• Women's college gymnastics (7 p.m, BYUtv): Iowa at BYU

• NBA (7 p.m., ROOT): Brooklyn Nets at Utah Jazz

• "When We Rise" (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): In the conclusion of this four-part miniseries, Cleve organizes a march on Washington D.C. to protest California's Proposition 8; Roma uses her past activist experiences to fight for healthcare in San Francisco; Ken seeks Cecilia Chung's help getting the city to fund a meal program for a church; the battle for same-sex marriage reaches the Supreme Court.

• "Emerald City" (8 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): In the finale, Dorothy faces off against the wizard; Glinda brings her power to the battlefield as the threat of the beast looms.
