Coincidentally, three absolutely meaningless and irrelevant events air opposite one another on Sunday:

• The NHL All-Star Game (5:30 p.m., NBCSN): Live from Los Angeles

• The Pro Bowl (5:50 p.m., ESPN): Live from Orlando

• And the Miss Universe Pageant (6 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13), hosted by Steve Harvey and Ashley Graham.

All-star games are pretty much always meaningless and irrelevant. These two are in that category.

And beauty pageants are a cultural anachronism that have long outlived their usefulness.
