If you've never met a transgender person — well, if you're not aware that you've ever met a transgender person — I'd highly recommend "The Trans List" (9 p.m., HBO).

It's just a series of people talking to the camera about their experiences. They're not overly dramatic — although some of them have led highly dramatic lives — they're all pretty matter-of-fact about it.

There are a couple of familiar faces (Laverne Cox, Caitlin Jenner), but mostly it's people you've never heard of. If you sit down and listen, you'll feel empathy for them.

As one says, "I don't need your acceptance, I just need your respect."
