Tonight on CBS, there's a new comedy, a new drama, two season premieres, and a new/old night for TV's biggest comedy.

• The new sitcom, "The Great Indoors" (7:30 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2) is growing on me. It's about a globe-trotting outdoor reporter (Joel McHale) who is forced to take a desk job and supervise a bunch of twentysomethings — leading to a Gen-X vs. Millennial battle.

I've seen the first couple of episodes, and I'll watch more. For more on "The Great Indoors," click here.

• The new drama, "Pure Genius" (9 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2), is the latest in a long line of medical shows. In this one, a tech billionaire who's hiding a secret builds a high-tech hospital and recruits a great doctor to come to work for him.

I didn't dislike the pilot (the only episode screened for critics), but I wasn't exactly enthralled. It was sort of cold, clinical and predictable.

But the showrunner is the same guy who brought us "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" — Jason Katims — so I'm going to give "Pure Genius" at least a few episodes.

• Tonight also marks the fourth-season premiere of "Mom" (8 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2) — a good episode with a couple of funny storylines; and the second-season premiere of "Life In Pieces" (8:30 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2), which features real-life married couple Megan Mullally ("Will & Grace") and Nick Offerman ("Parks and Recreation") guest starring as Clementine's unusal parents — and Heather and Tom try to enlist their help to get Clementine and Tyler to annul their marriage.

• Oh, and now that CBS' portion of the Thursday-night NFL package is done, "The Big Bang Theory" (7 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2) returns to Thursday. Penny is mobbed at Comic Con by geeks who recognize her from her role in "Serial Ape-ist."
