"Falling Water" is weird, moody, atmospheric and just plain strange. Intentionally.

The new series, which premieres at 11 p.m. on USA, feels more than a bit like the movie "Inception." Only more confusing.

It's the story of three strangers whose dreams are somehow connected. And those dreams somehow relate to some big event that could affect all of mankind.

Tess (Lizzie Brochere), who works in the fashion industry, dreams about the child she's absolutely certain she gave birth to … but there's no medical evidence she ever had a baby. Burton (David Ajala) — the tough security chief at a huge bank — has dreams relating to the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend … but there's no evidence she ever existed.

And Take (Will Yun Lee) is a police detective whose wife is in a coma … and he keeps encountering a woman who may not actually exist.

There's something going on here. What it is is completely unclear in the first episode.

The tough thing about a show like "Falling Water" is that it needs to maintain the myster, while at the same time giving the viewers enough — advancing the plot enough — to keep them tuning in.

I'm curious to see where "Falling Water" goes, but my patience is not endless.
