If you like traditional sitcoms with predictable jokes; hysterical laughter from the studio audience in response to unfunny jokes; and the feeling that you've seen it all before, you just might like "Kevin Can Wait" (7:30 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2).

Kevin James ("King of Queens") returns as Kevin, a just-retired cop who's looking forward to hanging out with his pals and spending more time with his family. But his gorgeous wife, Donna (Erinn Hayes), has shielded him from the truth — that their three kids are far from perfect.

This is very much like "King of Queens." There's nothing even slightly new or original about "Kevin Can Wait." It's comedy-by-the-numbers aimed at a broad, undiscerning audience.

Having said all that, I believe there's a pretty good chance that "Kevin Can Wait" will be a success. Remember, "King of Queens" wasn't a particularly good show, either — and it ran for nine seasons.
