Tonight's episode of "The Odd Couple" (8:30 p.m., Garry Marshall makes an appearance as Oscar's father.

Oscar (Matthew Perry) is asked to throw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game (cool!), and he invites Walter (Marshall), to be there in an attempt to impress his father. Which doesn't go well.

TV buffs may recall that Marshall (along with partner Jerry Belson) adapted Neil Simon's play into the first "Odd Couple" sitcom (1970-75), which starred Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Marshall executive produced that show before going on to produce sitcoms like "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley," "Mork & Mindy."

The 81-year-old is a consultant on the current incarnation of "The Odd Couple." He's also directed 18 movies — a list that includes "The Flamingo Kid," "Beaches," "Pretty Woman," "Runaway Bride," "The Princess Diaries" and "Mother's Day," which opens on Friday.
