As it enters Season 6, "Game of Thrones" (Sunday, 10 p.m., HBO) will go where it hasn't gone before.

The narrative has (for the most part) caught up with the five George R.R. Martin books published to date, so the producers/writers — after consulting with the author — are headed into uncharted territory.
