After a 3½ month hiatus, "Empire" returns to Fox's schedule tonight (8 p.m., Ch. 13). I wish I could tell you the show has gotten better, but it hasn't. It's dreadful.

I have nothing against prime-time soap operas. I like prime-time soap operas. But this show is badly written, badly acted … bad, bad, bad.

• "Nashville" (9 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): Luke regrets planning a tour with Riff; Deacon and Frankie disagree about Vita.

• "Chicago P.D." (9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): The team searches for a suspect who held a woman captive for months.

• "Baby Daddy" (9:30 p.m., FreeForm): Riley tries to set Ben up with Zoey; Tucker auditions to be a local weatherman.

• "Wahlburgers" (10 and 10:30 p.m., A&E): Bubba Watson plays a joke on Mark; Dale Earnhardt Jr. invites Mark to a NASCAR race.

• "Broad City" (11 p.m., Comedy Central): Abbi and Ilana list their apartments on a bed-and-breakfast website to make some money.

• "Lopez" (11 p.m., TV Land): In this new sitcom, Lopez plays a fictionalized version of himself. In the premiere, George is auctioned off at his daughter's school fundraiser.

• "Younger" (11 p.m., TV Land): In he premiere of this new comedy, George is auctioned off at a fundraiser for his daughter's school.

• "The Soul Man" (11:30 p.m., TV Land): In the fifth and final season premiere, Boyce decides to run for mayor.
