The new season of "Real World" — subtitled "Go Big Or Go Home" — features a new twist. And it's not Chris Ammon, the pansexual ex-Mormon.

This time around, the seven guests picked to live in a house and have their lives taped are presented with various challenges. If they fail to complete the challenges, they can be sent home and replaced by another young person eager to be on TV.

(The challenges include flying in hot-air balloons and stunt planes, dressing in drag, rock-climbing, singing, etc.)

Ammon, by the way, grew up in Utah and Idaho but now makes New York City his home. The 25-year-old wants to raise awareness about LGBTQ rights and fight religious discrimination.

In his audition tape, Ammon says, "Of everybody in my family, I'm the only one who has, like, even alluded to leaving the Mormon Church." And it's clearly caused some problems in the family.

"My mom uninvited me from her wedding because I'm not a good enough Mormon," Ammon says.

By the way, the definition of a pansexual is someone who "is not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender or gender identity."

"It's been, like, really healthy for me to, like, try things that I have been told are, like, incredibly perverse sexually," Ammon says. "I've never felt better."

If you're a Comcast subscriber, "Real World: Go Big or Go Home" debuts tonight at 11 p.m. on MTV. If you subscribe to DirecTV or Dish, it premieres at the considerably more reasonable hour of 8 p.m.

And there are lots of repeats throughout the week.
