In the series premiere of "The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" (11 p.m., FX), Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman are murdered and O.J. is the suspect.

There's an awful lot to like about this series. It's surprisingly engaging, given that we know how it ends.

But John Travolta's portrayal of O.J.'s attorney, Robert Shapiro — complete with bad makeup and affected speech — is a distraction. And the unnecessary, laughable inclusion of young Kardashians is a huge mistake.
