I wanted to like "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (7 p.m., CW/Ch. 30). I really did. And I don't hate it.

But after watching the first couple of episodes, my basic reaction is — meh.

And I'm a huge fan of "The Flash," one of two shows — along with "Arrow" — from which "Legends" was launched. So to say I'm disappointed in "Legends" would be an understatement.

The premise here is that a Doctor Who-ish Time Master, Rip Hunter (Arthur Davill) assembles an unlikely team of superheroes — and a couple of supervillans, sort of — to do battle with the evil Vandal Savage (Caspar Crump).

The show suffers from the illogic of time travel. (Why not go back to when Vandal Savage was born and either kill him or set him on the right path?) And it suffers from too many characters and not enough plot to go around — The Atom (Brandon Routh); Firestorm (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh); White Canary (Caity Lotz); Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell); Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller); Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee); and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel).

Maybe this will get better. But "Legends of Tomorrow" does not get off to a strong start.
