"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (7 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) is, arguably, the greatest Halloween special of all time.

This 1966 animated special is loaded with charm. And pathos. And you don't get a whole lot of pathos out of most animated specials.

Personally, I can't decide if my favorite part is Sally yelling at Linus when you-know-who fails to appear or when Lucy freaks out because of "dog germs."
