A Utahn survives a pile through the head in Saturday's episode of "The Day I Almost Died" (10 p.m. Saturday, Discovery Life Channel).

Cedar City's Andy Linn fell asleep at the wheel when he was traveling in Las Vegas back in 2010, causing him to crash into a chain link fence. The impact knocked a 15-foot-long, 2-inch-diameter pipe through the window, impaling Andy's mouth and exiting through his neck.

Thanks to trauma surgeons at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, he survived. (Thus, the title — "Almost Died.")

I'm certainly glad he recovered. But, yikes, this is pretty horrifying.
