The geeks and the nerds have something to binge watch this weekend. Marvel's 13-episode series "Daredevil" stars streaming on Netflix on Friday.

And, actually, it's not just for the geeks and the nerds. It's a very good series.

Charlie Cox ("Boardwalk Empire") stars as blind lawyer/martial arts whiz/vigilante Daredevil — aka Matt Murdock — a good guy who's out to clean up New York City.

The Big Apple needs some cleaning up in more ways than one. There's a dangerous villain (Vincent D'Onofrio with his head shaved) making trouble, and the place is still a mess after the events of the first "Avengers" movie.

("Daredevil" exists in the same universe as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," but there's no crossover.)

This new series is taut and exciting. It's a bit lack in a sense of humor, but that's quibbling.

It will entertain the geeks and the non-geeks. But, despite its comic-book roots, it's definitely not for kids. Too violent.
