"American Odyssey" (9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Premiere of this series that wants to be "Homeland," but doesn't quite get there. It's sort of a confusing mix of terrorists, soldiers, bad politicians, bad business executives … bad stuff.

"Wolf Hall" (9 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7): In the premiere of this medieval soap opera, Cardinal Wolsey fails to get King Henry VIII's marriage to Katherine of Aragon annuled, putting Thomas Cromwell in a strong position.

"Shameless" (10 p.m., Showtime): Fiona reunites with Gus even though she has feelings for Sean; Frank tries to keep Bianca happy. (Season finale)

"Happyish" (11 p.m., Showtime): A preview of this new comedy, which premieres later this month.

"Mad Men" (11 p.m. AMC): It's the beginning of the end — the first of the final seven episodes of this series.
