And then there was one …

There's only one local college basketball team still in contention to play on Saturday. And Utah has to beat Oregon on Friday night (9:30 p.m., ESPN) in the Pac-12 tournament semifinals to make it to Saturday's championship game (9 p.m., ESPN).

The rest of the state's teams are done for now. BYU made it to the WCC championship game on Tuesday, falling to Gonzaga 91-75.

As for the rest of the Utah teams, Thursday was a very bad day. Utah State lost to Wyoming 67-65 in the Mountain West tourney; Weber State lost to Montana 76-73 in OT in the Big Sky tourney; and Utah Valley lost to Cal State-Bakersfield 55-40 in the WAC tourney.

If you still care who ends up with the automatic bids in any of those leagues, the MWC championship is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on CBS/Ch. 2; the Big Sky championship is Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPNU; and the WAC championship is Saturday at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.

Utah is a lock to make the NCAA men's basketball tournament; BYU is on the bubble. We'll know when the brackets are announced on Sunday at 4 p.m. on CBS/Ch. 2.

If BYU doesn't make the NCAAs, Cougar fans — and, possibly, Aggie fans — will want to check out the announcement of the NIT brackets on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

The other local team we know for certain will be headed to the NCAA tournament is BYU's women, who won the West Coast Conference tournament title. The women's tournament brackets will be announced Sunday at 5 p.m. on ESPN.
