Do yourself a favor. Check out the first couple of episodes of ABC's very funny new sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat" (7:30 and 8:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4). It's about a couple who immigrated from Taiwan who move from D.C.'s Chinatown to Orlando, Fla., with their all-American sons to open a Western-themed restaurant.

Sure, I'm really hoping this show succeeds because it's the first sitcom about an Asian-American family in two decades (and, as far as I can discover, only the second ever). But I'm not asking you to watch "Fresh Off the Boat" as some sort of service to humanity. Or to television.

Watch it because it's really good.
