Rainn Wilson ("The Office") stars as an incredibly annoying detective in the incredibly annoying new series "Backstrom" (8 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13).

Well, the series isn't so awful by itself. It's a rather standard procedural crime drama, which was originally developed for CBS.

But "Backstrom" feels like, "Hey, let's make 'House' into a detective!" And Wilson's performance is so affected that the character doesn't feel real for a moment.

There are worse things on TV. But that's about the best thing I can tell you about "Backstrom."
