One of the country's biggest privately held homebuilders is putting on what it says is the largest parade of homes in the world.

Starting April 1, David Weekley Homes will offer a monthlong showcase of its model homes across the U.S. in an event intended to mark the 40th anniversary of the company's founding.

Headquartered in Houston and with regional offices in Taylorsville, David Weekley has single-family homes to show at several Wasatch Front locales such as Sugar House, Holladay, Cottonwood Heights and several places in South Jordan's Daybreak.

The company also broke ground in January on Deer Run Preserve, a 79-home project located on Highland Drive in Draper. Its model homes won't be available for viewing until the fall, however.

Coming just as homebuying season starts to pick up with warmer weather, the home parade will give visitors a chance to see "current innovations in design and decor trends," a company official said. But participants can also bolster David Weekley Homes' substantial charitable and volunteer efforts.

The firm will donate $5 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for every visitor who registers with the company's sales staff during a home tour. Registrants will be entered for a chance to win prizes.

Through the David Weekley Family Foundation, company employees have donated more than $100 million to charity in the past two decades, an official said.
