Today's "Trailer of the Day" for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival was released this morning, so the blood is still fresh.

"XX" is an anthology of four horror stories, each directed by a woman. The stories are:

• "The Box," written and directed by Jovanka Vuckovic, starring Natalie Brown ("The Strain");

• "Birthday Party," directed by Annie Clark (better known as the singer/performance artist St. Vincent), written by Roxanne Benjamin and Clark, starring Melanie Lynskey (who also is starring in the festival entry "I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore");

• "Don't Fall," written and directed by Roxanne Benjamin (who also directed part of the horror anthology "Southbound"), starring Breeda Wool ("UnReal");

• and "Her Only Living Son," written and directed by Karyn Kusama (whose debut "Girlfight" won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2000), starring Christina Kirk ("Love Is Strange").

The four stories are tied together with animation by Sofia Carrillo.

"XX" will debut in the festival's Midnight section, before opening in theaters and on video-on-demand on Feb. 17. The movie will screen at the festival at the following times and venues:
