It's more than two weeks until the 2017 Sundance Film Festival begins, and already the buying has started.

The Hollywood Reporter writes today that the first distribution deal has been made for one of this year's previously up-for-grabs festival titles: Netflix has picked up the worldwide rights for Kitty Green's documentary "Casting JonBenet."

Green's movie, debuting in the U.S. Documentary competition, examines the unsolved homicide of 6-year-old pageant queen JonBenet Ramsey. Green and her crew traveled to Ramsey's Colorado hometown to ask the locals to talk about their personal experiences with the case and the mythology that has grown around it.

Netflix will debut "Casting JonBenet" on its streaming service this spring, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
