It's the first "Trailer of the Day" for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival for new year — so we're going back to school.

Specifically, to the Headfort School in Kells — one of the last boarding schools for students 7 to 12 in Ireland. This school is the setting for the documentary "In Loco Parentis," which profiles both the students and the charmingly oddball couple who run the place.

John and Amanda Leyden met as teachers at the school more than 45 years ago, got married, and now run the place with the mantra "Reading! 'Rithmetic! Rock 'n' roll!" Music and art are as much a part of the curriculum as Latin (which John teaches), literature and maths.

Directors Neasa Ní Chianáin and David Rane apparently were allowed intimate access to the school, and the scenes in the trailer look like footage one would see in one of Frederick Wiseman's documentaries.

"In Loco Parentis" will have its North American premiere in the World Cinema Documentary competition of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. It will screen at the following times and venues:

• Friday, Jan. 20, 8:30 p.m., Egyptian Theatre, Park City.

• Saturday, Jan. 21, 9 p.m., Tower Theatre, Salt Lake City.

• Sunday, Jan. 22, 7 p.m., Redstone Cinema 2, Park City.

• Wednesday, Jan. 25, 3 p.m., Temple Theatre, Park City.

• Friday, Jan. 27, Holiday Village Cinema 2, Park City.

The 2017 Sundance Film Festival runs Jan. 19-29 in Park City and at venues in Salt Lake City and the Sundance resort in Provo Canyon.
