The Sundance Institute has a new director of marketing and communications.

Jared Hendler, founding partner of Brand Content Agency, was appointed to the Sundance job, and takes over his duties starting today in the institute's Los Angeles office, according to a press release.

"I am thrilled to bring my depth of experience within integrated communications and the digital world to the Sundance Institute team and join the Institute on its longstanding commitment to support independent filmmakers and audiences," Hendler said in a statement.

Hendler will be part of the institute's senior leadership group, supervising brand strategy and messaging, develop methods to grow constituencies, and launch new collaborations to tell the story of Sundance's artists, programs and activities.

Hendler will report to Keri Putnam, the institute's executive director. He will work closely with marketing director Jessica Buzzard, digital initiatives director Joseph Beyer, and media relations director Casey De La Rosa.

Besides his work at Brand Content Agency, Hendler has served as global director of digital & creative at MWW Group and executive creative director at Katalyst Media. He formerly worked as an executive at Edelman, Grey Advertising and other firms. He holds a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif. He lived in New York for many years, before recently returning to L.A.
