Today's Sundance "trailer of the day" is so fresh, the blood is still red.

The horror-thriller "It Follows" subverts the old slasher movie idea that the girl who has sex is always marked for death. Here, it's Jay (Maika Monroe), a 19-year-old who's swept off her feet by a new guy, Hugh (Jake Weary), and they have sex in the back of a car.

Then, Hugh ties Jay up and explains to her what is happening: He's being pursued by some malevolent force, and the only way to get rid of it is to transfer it to somebody else — which he just did by having sex with Jay.

Sounds creepy, no? Well, the movie, the second by director David Robert Mitchell ("The Myth of the American Teen-Ager") got great reviews when it debuted at Cannes last May.

"It Follows" will screen in the Park City at Midnight program of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
