Sandy • With the Major League Soccer's best team coming to town this weekend, Real Salt Lake's attacking triple threat was whittled down to just one in Wednesday's training session. RSL's leading scorers Joao Plata (nine goals, 11 assists) and Yura Movsisyan (nine goals, three assists) were absent after leaving Tuesday's session with respective injuries.

RSL coach Jeff Cassar said Wednesday that Movsisyan (right heel contusion) was set for an MRI on his right foot after the striker had an awkward collision with defender Justen Glad Tuesday morning at America First Field.

"It was really odd," Cassar said. "[Movsisyan] hit his heel on Justen's knee when he was taking a shot. He was going full force. I'm surprised Justen isn't hurt worse. It's something we think is going to be OK, but probably painful."

Plata also missed the training session Wednesday due to what Cassar labeled a "slight quadriceps pull." Cassar said it's too early in the week to determine the status of either forward for Saturday's home match against FC Dallas.

"I wouldn't say anything right now until we get the MRI to make sure there's nothing more," he said. "Then I have to speak with Yura and see where his pain is at."

Plata has started 25 regular-season matches, while Movsisyan has 24 starts in 2016. Minus Plata this year, RSL is 1-3-0, while the club is 2-2-0 in matches without Movsisyan.

Taking over

Following RSL's 1-0 loss to Houston last weekend — its first home loss of 2016 — Cassar said he wanted to see someone step up and take control of the match. Asked if that game in particular missed the presence of Javier Morales (quadriceps strain), Cassar looked broader after RSL's second-straight match without a goal.

"At the end of the day, I don't think one person makes the difference," Cassar said this week. "It's got to be from the entire team. Just everything was just average on the day. Getting to this time of year, it's not going to be good enough. You do need something from someone, whether it's a tackle, a voice, whether it's making a quality final ball, whatever it is. You need something. It can't just be so vanilla."

Slowing down Dallas

"They're just a well-oiled machine right now. It seems whatever they're doing, it's working," Cassar explained.

No arguing that. FC Dallas enters Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday as the top team in the league, still riding its high of hoisting the 2016 U.S. Open Cup trophy. FC Dallas has the most points of any team in MLS at the moment with 52 and has more wins (15) than any other club.

"You're never that successful for one reason," Cassar said. "They work incredibly hard, they're very dangerous on the counter, they're very deep, they've been having player rotations this entire year and guys step up when they get the opportunities. It's just a lot of things for them that are going right."
