Whatever remaining hours that seemed available inside Brian Dunseth's bustling schedule have been occupied, because the longtime Real Salt Lake TV analyst and soccer broadcaster is now adding radio to his expanding repertoire.

The 38-year-old has signed a deal to join SiriusXM FC, a channel dedicated exclusively to soccer on the satellite radio service.

Dunseth will join SiriusXM FC's soccer-specific talk show "Counter Attack," a daily two-hour broadcast during East Coast drive time from 5 to 7 p.m. — 3 to 5 p.m. MDT — and will become part of a rotation which includes former U.S. men's national team names John Harkes, Tony Meola, Chris Sullivan, Jimmy Conrad as well as soccer analysts Joe Tolleson, JP Dellacamera and Steve Cangialosi.

Dunseth makes his Counter Attack debut as one of the show's regular personalities this Friday along with Meola.

"Excited for that completely different realm of soccer talk," Dunseth told the Tribune. "I think where people always tend to gravitate towards is the ability to listen to a conversation that seems private but isn't necessarily private. I think of the successes to any type of broadcast — whether it be radio, television, Periscope, Sirius —  is that you have to feel that you're a part of their lives."

The new gig won't affect Dunseth's role calling RSL matches. The former RSL center back started as a TV analyst with the club in 2007 and has since called a plethora of MLS, international and various tournament matches for networks such as FOX Sports, ESPN and NBC Sports.

"This is going to be something that is a Monday-to-Friday thing, a two-hour show I'll be a part of," Dunseth explained. "This will not take away with anything I'm doing [with RSL]."

The idea of joining Counter Attacka and SiriusXM FC was initially approached earlier this year when Dunseth and Tolleson — the show's executive producer and New York City FC's play-by-play man for YES — called U-20 World Cup Qualifiers together. When the idea was again broached over the MLS All-Star Break, the two sides decided to join forces.

Dunseth won't have a designated slot, but will rather be part of the fluid, rotating base of hosts on Counter Attack. Ideally, a more simplified schedule will be nailed down in the MLS offseason when Dunseth has more time in breaks away from calling matches, either with RSL or various league matches.

A main draw in joining SiriusXM FC is expanding the day-to-day discussion beyond MLS and the USMNT. Dunseth said he's eager to focus on various leagues and tournaments around in the world, including the EPL, Serie A, La Liga as well as domestic soccer in the U.S.

"For me it's kind of a continuation on a broader scale of what I've been doing on years during [ESPN700's] OnFrame," he said. "It's always a conversation, it's always about teaching, telling stories, showing the lifestyle and the culture of the game while also being analytical and being able to break things down and help people look for certain things. It's really everything we have to do right now."
