Former Pleasant Grove catcher Payton Henry was named first-team All-American by MaxPreps on Thursday afternoon.

Henry signed a contract for $550,000 in June to play for the Milwaukee Brewers after being selected with the No. 171 overall pick in the sixth round of the MLB Draft.

He was honored on the All-Tribune team, which recognizes the best players in the state regardless of classification in consecutive seasons, and was also awarded the Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior and a senior.

Henry batted .519 with seven home runs with 31 RBI this past year for the Vikings.
