BASEBALL

Class 5A

1. Cottonwood (7-3) — Huge series against Bingham this week. The Colts are still undefeated against in-state opponents.

2. Pleasant Grove (9-3) — The Vikings took two of three games against American Fork, which was ranked No. 4 in Class 5A at the time.

3. Jordan (9-2) — Lost to a Georgia-based program; the Beetdiggers return to local competition next week.

4. Bingham (7-3) — The Miners can shake up the Region 3 standings and the state rankings this week against Cottonwood.

5. Mountain Crest (9-1) — The Mustangs are off to a torrid start in their first season in Class 5A competition.

Class 4A

1. Salem Hills (14-1) — Can defending champion Spanish Fork upset the Skyhawks this week?

2. Timpanogos (9-0) — After a lengthy break, the Wolves return to action against Alta.

3. Murray (9-0) — The Spartans are flying high after consecutive sweeps. Up next: Skyline.

4. Orem (8-2) — The Tigers face crosstown rival Mountain View after two straight sweeps.

5. Maple Mountain (10-5) — The preseason No. 2-ranked team in Class 4A is starting to find its rhythm.

Class 3A

1. Dixie (10-2) — The Flyers bumped their winning streak to six games with two victories against Cedar.

2. Pine View (9-4) — Routed Snow Canyon twice. Watch out for this team.

3. Juan Diego (7-3) — Handled Bear River, but lost to Class 4A's Spanish Fork.

4. Canyon View (9-4) — The Falcons looked impressive against Carbon.

5. Grantsville (10-3) — Inexcusable loss to Union sent the Cowboys tumbling down the rankings.

Class 2A

1. North Sevier (11-2) — Split two-game series with second-ranked Grand.

2. Grand (11-3) — Red Devils responded after the first loss against North Sevier to split the series.

3. South Sevier (12-2) — After their mini stumble, it appears the Rams are back on track.

4. Enterprise (10-5) — The Wolves are back in the rankings after a five-game winning streak negated their poor start to the season.

5. Gunnison (9-5) — Sticking with the theme of the season, the Bulldogs continued with their sporadic play.

SOFTBALL

Class 5A

1. Lehi (13-5) — Huge week for the Pioneers, with games against Riverton and Herriman.

2. Bingham (8-5) — Four straight wins, including an extra-inning thriller against Herriman, catapulted the Miners up the rankings.

3. Herriman (6-7) — Dominated previously top-ranked Riverton.

4. Riverton (10-4) — Riverton dropped significantly because of the poor showing against Herriman, but, as evident by the win against Spanish Fork, this team is still very a much a threat to win it all.

5. West (9-2) — For the first time this season, in any sport, the Panthers are ranked.

Class 4A

1. Spanish Fork (14-2) — Surprising loss against Riverton does not change the Dons standing in the rankings.

2. Box Elder (9-2) — The Bees have a massive Region 5 showdown against Bountiful on Tuesday.

3. Bountiful (9-0) — Can take complete control of Region 5 with win against Box Elder.

4. Maple Mountain (9-4) — Seven straight wins has the Eagles moving up the rankings.

5. Alta (6-0) — The Hawks finally return to action this week.

Class 3A

1. Juab (11-1) — The Wasps enjoyed time off last week, but they're back in action on Tuesday riding an 11-game win streak.

2. Stansbury (11-4) — The Stallions have been the premier team in this classification for a long time, so it goes without saying that this team is very dangerous.

3. Bear River (8-1) — Make that five straight wins for the Bears.

4. Desert Hills (17-3) — The Thunder have already played 20 games this season, and after handing Snow Canyon its first loss of the season, they're ranked for the first time.

5. Snow Canyon (8-1) — Lost a 1-0 decision to Desert Hills.

Class 2A

1. South Summit (11-2) — Nine straight wins for the Wildcats, including a three-run decision against Manti.

2. Manti (9-3) — The Templars fell short against South Summit, but this team is still one of the top units in the classification.

3. Duchesne (8-1) — The Eagles continued their hot start with another win.

4. Enterprise (10-5) — The Wolves continue to be up and down this season.

5. Grand (9-3) — The Devils are still unscathed in region play.

BOYS' SOCCER

Class 5A

1. Bingham (6-0) — Until the Miners lose, the No. 1 spot belongs to them.

2. Lone Peak (6-1) — The Knights return to work this week against Lehi and Westlake.

3. Viewmont (6-1) — Huge game against Davis this week.

4. Davis (6-1) — Can shake things up with an upset against Viewmont.

5. Brighton (4-2-1) — The previously top-ranked Bengals will look to regroup this week after two straight losses.

Class 4A

1. Provo (6-1) — Bulldogs face crosstown rival Timpview and Orem this week.

2. Alta (3-2-1) — The Hawks will attempt to get the ship straightened out.

3. Maple Mountain (6-1) — After time off, the Eagles head to Springville.

4. Murray (5-0-2) — The Spartans are playing great soccer on both ends of the pitch.

5. Wasatch (5-0-3) — Showdown with Maple Mountain on Friday is looming.

Class 3A

1. Juan Diego (8-0) — Incredible start for the Soaring Eagle continues.

2. Dixie (6-2-1) — Add two more wins for the Flyers.

3. Snow Canyon (7-3-1) — The Region 9 race is going to be fun to watch this season.

4. Desert Hills (8-2) — Couldn't get past Dixie and Snow Canyon.

5. Canyon View (6-3-1) — The Falcons are still undefeated in league play.

Class 2A

1. American Leadership (5-0-2) — The Eagles are still without a tally in the loss column.

2. South Summit (7-1) — Wildcats will look to rebound against Waterford.

3. Layton Christian (5-1) — Benefited from Delta losing twice.

4. Millard (6-1) — The Eagles are starting to play great soccer.

5. Manti (5-2-1) — The Templars are atop the 2A Central region.
