BASEBALL

Class 5A

1. Cottonwood (6-0) — Three-game sweep against West Jordan set up an impending showdown against Bingham this week.

2. Pleasant Grove (5-1) — The Vikings have responded with three straight wins against three opponents after surprising loss against Pine View.

3. Jordan (5-1) — The Beetdiggers' five-game winning streak was snapped against Taylorsville, but not after they already claimed the series.

4. Herriman (5-1) — Handed Salem Hills its first loss of the season. The Mustangs are playing sound baseball.

5. Mountain Crest (6-1) — The Mustangs started the season with six straight wins after making the jump from Class 4A.

Class 4A

1. Salem Hills (10-1) — The Skyhawks' 10-game winning streak ended in the second game against Herriman.

2. Timpanogos (9-0) — The Timberwolves are the complete package, with great pitching and an ability to score runs in a hurry.

3. Woods Cross (5-2) — Baseball rankings can fluctuate quickly. The Wildcats are back at No. 3 after being unranked last week.

4. Murray (3-0) — The Region 6 favorites have yet to receive a test in three games this season.

5. Bountiful (2-1) — Loss to California-based program kept the Braves at No. 5, but didn't kick them out of the rankings.

Class 3A

1. Pine View (6-2) — The Panthers appear to be fully back on track. It would be difficult to place this team anywhere but the top.

2. Grantsville (9-0) — How about the start for the Pokes? The Cowboys should handle crosstown rival Tooele with ease this week.

3. Dixie (8-2) — The Flyers have strung together four straight wins against programs in higher classifications.

4. Cedar (7-5) — The Reds have been up and down this season, but if they can find consistency, their roster can compete with anyone in the class.

5. Stansbury (6-3) — The Stallions were outmatched against Pleasant Grove and Payson, but have performed adequately against opponents in their own class.

Class 2A

1. North Sevier (7-1) – The Wolves' four-game winning streak has been impressive to say the least.

2. Grand (7-1) — Registered a major win against South Sevier to earn a seventh straight win.

3. South Sevier (9-1) — Nine-game winning streak snapped by the Red Devils.

4. Gunnison (6-3)— The Bulldogs have strung together four wins in succession.

5. San Juan (8-1) — New to the rankings this week, the Broncos are destroying teams, but the strength of schedule is a major concern.

SOFTBALL

Class 5A

1. Riverton (4-0) — The Silverwolves have embarrassed four consecutive opponents. This team is on a mission.

2. Lehi (7-4) — Watch out for the champs. The Pioneers have strung together five straight wins.

3. Herriman (4-6) — The Mustangs lost six straight, but this is where the season can take a 180-turn now that they're back playing in-state competition.

4. Taylorsville (3-0) — Although the Warriors haven't played many games yet, the three wins are eye-opening.

5. Fremont (6-3) — The Wolves have performed well, but Box Elder definitely has their number.

Class 4A

1. Spanish Fork (9-1) — The Dons reached the 10-run plateau in the past three games.

2. Springville (9-2) — Weather allowed the Devils to play only one game last week, which they won against Salem Hills.

3. Bountiful (7-0) — Similar to Springville, the Braves' win against crosstown rival Woods Cross was their only game last week.

4. Box Elder (6-1) — Handled Fremont for the second time this season.

5. Alta (3-0) — The Hawks' sample size is small, but they've outscored three opponents 26-1.

Class 3A

1. Juab (10-1) — The Wasps' margin of victory is starting to get silly. They're playing at an elite level.

2. Bear River (6-1) — Three straight wins sets up an intriguing game at Alta on Tuesday.

3. Stansbury (5-3) — The Stallions enjoyed an unexpected off-week because of weather.

4. Snow Canyon (6-0) — Warriors appear to be the class of the southern-based schools in the early portion of the season.

5. Tooele (5-2) — The Buffaloes remained stagnant at No. 5 because of the success of the higher-ranked teams.

Class 2A

1. South Summit (9-2) — Make that seven straight for the Wildcats.

2. Gunnison (7-2) — Sticking to the theme of last week, the Bulldogs enjoyed the short break.

3. Manti (5-2) — Jumped up one spot after an extremely impressive win against American Fork on the road.

4. Enterprise (6-2) — Lost to Cedar, which plays in Class 3A. Can't blame the Wolves too much there.

5. Duchesne (5-2) — The Eagles had a bye week.

BOYS' SOCCER

Class 5A

1. Brighton (4-0-1) — Benefited from having the week off.

2. Lone Peak (5-1) — The Knights tumbled one spot in the rankings after suffering an upset loss against Riverton

3. Viewmont (4-1) — Held off Hunter to rebound nicely against Hunter.

4. Bingham (4-0) — Showdown looming against top-ranked Brighton on Friday.

5. Davis (5-1) — After upsetting Layton, the Darts are the newest face in the rankings.

Class 4A

1. Alta (3-1-1) — Registered a shutout victory against previously-ranked Timpanogos.

2. East (3-0-1) — The Leopards had the week off.

3. Provo (4-1) — Similar to Region 7 counterpart Alta, the Bulldogs also blanked Timpanogos.

4. Maple Mountain (4-1) — The Eagles painted six goals on the board against Uintah.

5. Murray (2-0-2) — The Spartans struggle to find the back of the net in two scoreless ties, but have yet to surrender a single goal.

Class 3A

1. Juan Diego (5-0) — The Eagle had the week off.

2. Dixie (2-2-1) — The Flyers rested without any games last week.

3. Snow Canyon (3-3-1) — Big win against Canyon View pushed the Warriors up one spot in the rankings.

4. Desert Hills (6-0) — The Thunder enjoyed a bye week.

5. Logan (3-3-1) — Lost consecutive games against Class 5A opponents.

Class 2A

1. South Summit (6-0) — The Wildcats have won six straight multiple-goal games to open the year.

2. American Leadership (2-0-2) — Tied North Sanpete and blew the doors off Beaver.

3. Delta (3-1) — Blowout win against Merit Academy has the Rabbits firmly in the third spot.

4. Millard (3-0) — Had no problem with Diamond Ranch.

5. Layton Christian (3-1) — The Eagles had a bye week.
