The brackets are nearly complete for the Class 1A basketball tournament that opens Wednesday at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield and one potential first-round game could be a dandy.

Piute struggled in the Region 20 tournament and will have to beat Whitehorse in a play-in game. If the Thunderbirds win that one, they will get a first-round matchup with two-time defending champion Panguitch. Those two teams met in the state title game a year ago with the Bobcats taking an easy victory.

Panguitch, Region 20 runner-up Bryce Valley, Duchesne, Tintic and Monticello go in as the teams to beat. Panguitch is going for its third straight title.

Here is what Wednesday's first-round schedule looks like with a few final spots to be determined:

Green River vs. Valley, 10 a.m.

ICS/Milford winner vs. Duchesne, 11:30 a.m.

Tintic vs. Region 17 #4/Parowan, 1 p.m.

Bryce Valley vs. Monument Valley/West Ridge Academy, 2:30 p.m.

Rich vs. Wendover, 4 p.m.

Monticello vs. Wayne/Dugway, 5:30 p.m.

Panguitch vs. Whitehorse/Piute 7 p.m.

St. Joseph vs. Tabiona, 8 p.m.
