Bingham coach John Lambourne has been named an assistant coach for the West team in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

Lambourne, a long-time offensive coordinator under former Bingham coach Dave Peck , guided the Miners to the Class 5A semifinals in his first season atop the program. The Miners finished 12-2, with losses against Bishop Gorman (Nev.) and Lone Peak.

"Coaches play an important role in the positive development of America's youth," said deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing Mark S. Davis said in a press release. "The coaches and assistant coaches chosen for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl are highly accomplished and respected leaders."

Brighton receiver Simi Fehoko and Wasatch kicker Skyler Southam are participants in the bowl. Kickoff from the Alamodome is schedule for 11 a.m. on NBC on Jan. 9.
