The fourth installment of The Tribune's statewide top 25 rankings features numerous new faces joining the party. Pine View, West Jordan, Dixie and Kearns all make their first appearances this week, while Bountiful returns after two straight wins against Class 5A opponents. The Panthers are one of two teams advertising an undefeated record in the Class 3AA ranks, while their St. George counterpart Dixie has looked awfully impressive the past two weeks, including blowing out Alta in a game in which it led 38-0 at halftime.

West Jordan is starting to live up to our preseason projection. That analysis looked extremely questionable after the Jaguars' poor performance in the opening week, but the recent runaway victory against Skyline — which was ranked No. 12 in the state at the time — shows potential is brewing within the program. Kearns is 3-0 for the first time in 22 years, but the strength of the schedule is preventing the Cougars from climbing any higher than the final spot in the rankings. Their three wins are against programs that are a combined 1-8 thus far, and the next two opponents are collectively 0-6, which begs the question: Is Kearns simply beating bad teams?

Roy (beat Desert Hills) and Layton (beat Northridge) enjoyed the largest leaps, both jumping up four spots in the rankings. Fremont, Maple Mountain, Mountain Crest and Herriman each increased their position by three. Fremont (No. 10) plays at Mountain Crest (No. 12) and Maple Mountain (No. 11) plays at Springville (No. 9) on Friday.

The biggest drop this week is Skyline, which fell 11 spots. The Eagles were shaky against Hurricane in the opening week, handled a winless West team in Week 2, but completely were outmatched against the Jaguars. Highland, Orem, Syracuse, Corner Canyon and Taylorsville all dropped completely out of the rankings.

OK. Enough jibber-jabber. Without further adieu, the complete statewide rankings for Week 4:

In case you missed our power rankings, here is the shakedown for each classification:

Class 5A:

1. Bingham (2-1) — Bishop Gorman was the better team. The Gaels are better than arguably every team, but the Miners showed they're still the top contender in the state.

2. Brighton (3-0) — Simi Fehoko made an Ohio State reference about winning with the third-string quarterback, and thus the Andrew "Cardale" Covey nickname was born.

3. Sky View (3-0) — Lightning delays slowed down the Bobcats, but still couldn't stop the offense.

4. Jordan (3-0) — The Beetdiggers nearly blew a 21-point lead against Pleasant Grove, but found a way to win.

5. Lone Peak (3-0) — No problem with West. Pleasant Grove next week could be interesting.

Class 4A:

1. Timpview (2-1) — Solid bounce back win against tough Taylorsville club.

2. East (2-1) — The Leopards rolled past Clearfield. Bye in Week 4 before Valor Christian (Colo.) comes to town.

3. Springville (3-0) — Shutout victory against Mountain View sets up looming battle with region foe Maple Mountain on Friday.

4. Maple Mountain (3-0) — The Golden Eagles can take control of the region race with win at Springville.

5. Bountiful (2-1) — The Braves have won two straight against Class 5A opponents.

Class 3AA:

1. Pine View (3-0) — The Panthers are known for offense, but the dark side is stealing the spotlight thus far.

2. Desert Hills (1-2) — Two losses against Jordan and Roy. Tough to nitpick the Thunder for those setbacks.

3. Dixie (2-1) — The Flyers were up 38-0 at halftime against Alta.

4. Stansbury (3-0) — The Stallions have a huge matchup against Tooele on Friday.

5. Tooele (2-1) — The Buffaloes gave up 20 first-quarter points to Murray, but battled back to only lose by three.

Class 3A:

1. Juan Diego (3-0) — The Soaring Eagle stormed back to beat an underappreciated Snow Canyon team in double overtime.

2. Juab (3-0) — Impressive win against Salem Hills. Juab could seriously challenge Juan Diego this year.

3. Morgan (2-1) — The Trojans routed previously unbeaten Ben Lomond.

4. Canyon View (3-0) — Beat crosstown rival Cedar for the first time in a decade.

5. Emery (2-1) — Surprise team in the classification thus far.

Class 2A:

1. South Summit (3-0) — The Wildcats extended their state-leading win streak to 13 games with close win against Park City.

2. Beaver (2-1) — Two straight wins for the Beavers has them climbing the rankings.

3. Summit Academy (2-1) — The Bears are absolutely rolling offensively behind quarterback Justin Miller.

4. North Summit (2-1) — Surprising loss against Enterprise drops the Braves three spots.

5. Enterprise (2-1) — The Wolves have improved dramatically since the opening week.

Class 1A:

1. Diamond Ranch (2-0) — Statement win against Duchesne.

2. Kanab (2-1) — The Cowboys rebounded after close loss to Beaver in Week 2 with blowout against Gunnison.

3. Monticello (2-0) — Easy win against first-year program Wayne.

4. Duchesne (1-2) — Lost against the Diamondbacks, but don't count the Eagles out yet.

5. Rich (0-2) — Defending champs in unfamiliar 0-2 hole.
