Brighton quarterback and Utah commit Kahi Neves intends on transferring to Timpview — his sixth school in four years — for his senior season, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

Neves could make his Timpview debut as soon as Saturday, when the Thunderbirds participate in BYU's 7-on-7 camp.

Neves has not responded to messages left by The Tribune, but Timpview coach Cary Whittingham confirmed that the transfer was currently in process.

It is not clear what has prompted Neves' latest move, but it appears he will relocate into Timpview's boundary area — because that's about the only scenario under which he could play this coming season.

This marks another chapter in the transfer saga for Neves, who joined the Bengals last season after participating in summer workouts and camp circuits with Bingham and Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. He started his career at Cardinal Newman in Santa Rosa, Calif., before playing sparingly for Kaiser in Hawaii as a sophomore.

Neves told The Tribune in 2014 that part of his decision to leave Bingham was based on the knowledge he'd likely wait behind then-incumbent starter Kyle Gearig, who eventually led the Miners to two consecutive Class 5A titles.

The transfer to Brighton proved peculiar, considering the talent already advertised behind center in Cottonwood Heights. Neves eventually completed 4 of 12 pass attempts for 162 yards and one touchdown as a junior backup to Robbie Hutchins (136-255, 2,438 yards, 32 TDs, 8 INTs). Neves recorded 65 tackles and three sacks on defense.

Throughout the current offseason, Neves once again was immersed in another quarterback duel with fellow three-star recruit, Drew Jensen, who holds offers from Utah, BYU and Utah State, and Oregon State.

Neves, who participated in the high-profile Elite 11 quarterback competition, is a consensus three-star recruit by Rivals, Scout and 247. The college attention is propelled by his size (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) and powerful arm. He maintains offers from Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii and Utah State, alongside the Utes.

With the addition of Neves, Timpview, which has won three straight Class 4A championships, fills the void at quarterback left behind from the departure of Britain Covey, who posted a perfect 26-0 record with the Thunderbirds.
