Three Kearns High basketball stars will sign letters of intent to play college basketball Friday in a noon ceremony at the Granite District School.

Bushmen Ebet, a high-flying, 6-foot swingman, will play for Salt Lake Community College. Buay Kuajian, a 6-foot-4 forward, has signed to play with Puget Sound in Seattle. Mautrice Carter, a 6-foot-5, 200-pounder who was injured in the third game of the season, will play for Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

The trio helped the Cougars to a runner-up finish in Class 4A this season, the school's best season since 1972. They increase the number of players Kearns coach Dan Cosbie has seen go to college to 15 in six years at the school.

"We had three sign one other year," said Cosbie. "You add that on to the season itself that we had. We might not be part of the Lone Peaks of the world and big schools like that. But year after year, placing kids in college, is pretty good for Kearns."
