Class 2A kicks off the state tournament softball season with eight games scheduled Thursday.

Enterprise, San Juan, South Summit and Altamont enter the three-day double elimination tournament, which will be played in Spanish Fork, as the top seeds.

The tournament continues Friday and Saturday.

First day games see Manti meeting Rowland Hall, San Juan testing Millard, Delta playing South Sevier, and Altamont battling Gunnison in 11 a.m. games.

The 1 p.m. contests see Enterprise battling the winner of the Rockwell-Emery play-in game, Duchesne testing Summit Academy, South Summit meeting Beaver and Grand playing Parowan.

The Class 3A softball tournament begins on the home fields of the four region champions Saturday with eight games on the schedule. Losers will play one more game later in the day in the double elimination tournament.

Snow Canyon, Uintah, Juab and Grantsville enter the tournament as top seeds because they captured league titles.

Saturday's games see Carbon versus Stansbury at 10 a.m. and Snow Canyon battling Morgan at noon at Snow Canyon. Uintah will meet Dixie at 10 a.m. and Payson meets Bear River at noon in Uintah games.

Juan Diego battles Cedar City at 10 a.m. and Juab meets Tooele at noon in games at Juab. Grantsville meets North Sanpete at 10 a.m. and Canyon View battles Union at noon in games in Grantsville.

After the first day, the tournament moves to the Fields at Little Valley in St. George for games May 14, 15 and 16.
