Like many sports not sanctioned as "official" by the Utah High School Activities Association, water polo often flies under the radar.

But, according to the Utah High School Water Polo Association, there are 24 Beehive State teams competing in three classifications. Their season runs from 11 to 13 weeks.

According to the group, teams from East, Herriman and Kearns sent teams to the National Junior Olympic Championships last summer in San Jose, California.
